DC Bandipora Distributes Three-Wheelers, Fish Vending Carts; Inaugurates Live Fish Vending Centre under PMMSY

BANDIPORA, APRIL 15: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today distributed three-wheelers and fish vending carts among selected beneficiaries under various schemes, aimed at strengthening livelihood opportunities and boosting the fisheries sector in the district.

On the occasion, the DC distributed 07 three-wheelers equipped with ice box units among fishermen who were selected through a transparent draw of lots conducted by the District Level Steering Committee (DLSC) under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) for the year 2025–26.

Additionally, two fish vending carts were distributed among beneficiaries under the Jammu & Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement Project (JKCIP) 2025–26, further facilitating market access and enhancing income generation for small-scale fish vendors.

The DC also inaugurated a Live Fish Vending Centre at Nibrepora, established under PMMSY 2025–26, marking a significant step towards modernizing fish marketing infrastructure and ensuring the availability of fresh fish to consumers.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that PMMSY is a flagship scheme aimed at promoting the sustainable development of the fisheries sector through infrastructure creation, improved marketing facilities, and enhanced livelihood opportunities for fishermen.

The DC urged the beneficiaries to make optimal use of the assets provided to enhance their income and contribute towards the overall growth of the fisheries sector in the district.

Among others, the Assistant Director Fisheries Bandipora, officials from the Fisheries Department, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders were present on the occasion.
