
A formal Handing Over/Taking Over ceremony was held today at the Zila Sainik Welfare Office (ZSWO), Udhampur, marking a significant transition in leadership. During the ceremony, Col Rajesh Gupta (Retd), a distinguished veteran hailing from Doda district, formally assumed the duties and responsibilities of ZSWO Udhampur from Wg Cdr Tirath Singh (Retd).
As part of the transition process, a comprehensive briefing was conducted to ensure the smooth transfer of responsibilities and continuity of ongoing welfare initiatives. The outgoing officer apprised his successor of the office’s functioning, key welfare schemes, ongoing projects and matters concerning veterans, war widows and their dependents. The detailed handover aimed to maintain efficiency and uphold the high standards of service delivery associated with the organization.
Following the assumption of charge, Col Rajesh Gupta (Retd) interacted with the staff of ZSWO Udhampur and outlined his vision for strengthening welfare measures and enhancing outreach to the veteran community. He emphasized the importance of timely grievance redressal, improved coordination with stakeholders and greater awareness regarding welfare schemes available to ex-servicemen and their families. He also stressed the need for a compassionate and service-oriented approach in addressing the concerns of beneficiaries.
The occasion marked a seamless transfer of charge and reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of ZSWO Udhampur towards the welfare and well-being of veterans, Veer Naris, widows and their dependents. The office remains dedicated to ensuring effective implementation of welfare programmes, facilitating access to entitlements and strengthening support systems for the armed forces fraternity in the district.
