District Level awareness programme on NMBA held at GDC Shopian

SHOPIAN, APRIL 15: A district level awareness programme under the 100 Days Campaign of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), themed “Ill Effects of Drug Abuse,” was organized today at the Auditorium Hall of GDC Shopian.

Students from various educational institutions across the district participated actively in the programme, reflecting strong engagement and awareness among the youth.

Additional District Development Commissioner Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone, who was the Chief Guest, in his address described students as the pillars of the nation and emphasized their crucial role in nation-building. He called upon the youth to channel their energy towards constructive activities and uphold values that strengthen society and further appreciated the efforts of the organizing departments in conducting such meaningful initiatives.

Chief Education Officer (CEO) Shopian, Bashir Ahmad Shah, in his address highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts by educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens. He stressed the role of education in instilling moral values and resilience among students to resist social evils like drug addiction.

While addressing the gathering, the Dy. CEO Shopian, Aijaz Ahmad emphasized the serious consequences of drug abuse on individuals and society. He urged students to remain vigilant, adopt healthy lifestyles, and act as ambassadors of change by spreading awareness against substance abuse in their communities.

The programme also featured vibrant cultural and artistic performances  presented by students from various schools, adding enthusiasm and creative expression to the event.

On the occasion, a felicitation ceremony was held to honour students, schools, and Heads of Institutions. Institutions including BHSS Shopian, HSS Imamsahib, RHMS Keegam, HSS Gatipora, HSS Shadab Karewa, Alamdar Education Institute Pinjora, and several other schools were felicitated.

The event was attended by the Principal GDC Shopian, Tariq Ahmad, Heads of Institutions, officials from the Education Department, teachers, and a large number of students from different educational institutions.
