Awareness program on “Healthy Youth, Prosperous Nation” Ek Sankalp – NASHA MUKT BHARAT, organized at University of Jammu

“Healthy Youth, Prosperous Nation” Ek Sankalp – NASHA MUKT BHARAT, an awareness program, was successfully organized by Science Clubs, Utsaah, jointly with the Department of Zoology in collaboration with, the Jammu and Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Department of Science and Technology (DST), UT of J&K on May 29th, 2026 at the University of Jammu.

 

Under the theme of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which is a flagship campaign to create awareness and reach youth and society for understanding the gravity of substance abuse. The youth and various stakeholders came to discuss and take part in the activities for a common goal of making India free of substance abuse. Slogans and posters were displayed during the event to spread awareness.

 

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Seema Langer, Head, Department of Zoology and she shared her views about this critical issue of society with students, scholars, faculty, staff and employees present during the event and urged everyone to spread awareness at their level to make a better tomorrow.

 

Shruti Khanna, Assistant Director, JKSTIC, was the special guest during the program and appreciated the efforts. She applauded the initiative and encouraged more such programs to join hands for a Nasha Mukt Nation.

 

The chairperson, Utsaah, Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Science, University of Jammu, extended her wholehearted support for the event.

 

Expert guest speaker Manoj Sauguna, Superintendent, NCB Jammu Zonal Unit, Narcotics Control Bureau, informed the audience about this grave issue of drug addiction, its spread across India and J&K and how the government is strategizing to combat this societal malaise. He shared relevant information regarding whom to reach out to and how to reach out. He asked everyone to take part against this war and informed the 14446 and 1933 helpline no. of deaddiction centres across India and J&K.

 

During the Valedictory session, slogan competition participants were awarded and certificates were distributed. The event was conducted by Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology and Coordinator, Science Club, Utsaah, University of Jammu, who delivered a vote of thanks to all, especially JKSTIC for sponsoring the event, dignitaries for their valuable insights and everyone for engaging and active participation. Gratitude was also extended to print and online media for their wide coverage. The event ended with a pledge that we all will do everything possible to the best of our ability to make India drug-free.
