Process initiated for rationalization of Polling Stations in AC-51 Bhaderwah

The process for rationalization of Polling Stations, including new creation, change of location and nomenclature under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has been set rolling for AC-51 Bhadarwah.

In this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) Sunil Kumar Bhutyal convened a meeting with representatives from different political parties. He urged them to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and submit their names to the Election authorities for smooth conduct of electoral revision works. “The role of BLAs is important in assisting the Election authorities during revision of electoral rolls and polling related activities,” he said.

The political parties were also asked to submit details of polling stations that require rationalization or change of location, besides demands for creation of new polling stations, as per Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.

Officials informed that under the latest ECI guidelines, the maximum limit of voters for a polling station in rural areas has been fixed at 1200 electors. “A Polling station having more than 1200 voters may be proposed for creation of additional or a new polling station to ensure smooth voting and reduce inconvenience to voters,” he added.
