Deputy Commissioner Samba Ayushi Sudan today chaired a meeting of the District Rent Assessment Committee (DRAC) to review and deliberate upon rent assessment proposals pertaining to private buildings presently rented by the government departments across the district.
The Committee examined 14 rent assessment cases related to buildings being utilized by different government departments, including the Health Department, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department and other offices. The proposals were reviewed in detail, taking into consideration prescribed norms, infrastructure facilities, administrative requirements and supporting documentation.
After detailed deliberations, the Committee approved 12 cases, while two cases were deferred for incomplete documentation and procedural deficiencies. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to address the shortcomings and resubmit the cases for consideration at the earliest.
Emphasizing transparency, accountability and due diligence in the utilization of rented accommodations for government purposes, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all district officers to ensure thorough verification of documents and conduct independent assessments before finalizing rental arrangements and forwarding proposals to the Committee. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, District Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Officer, Executive Engineer PWD, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer and other concerned officers.
