Youth led Unity March spurs fight against drug abuse in Assar

ASSAR, APRIL 27: Demonstrating a strong collective commitment to eradicate drug abuse, a Unity March/Marathon on Drug Awareness was organized today at Sub-Division Assar under the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.

The march commenced from Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) and culminated near the SDM Office, drawing active participation from around 200 students, officials and members of the civil society. The initiative aimed to sensitize the public—especially the youth—about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of adopting a healthy, disciplined lifestyle.

The programme was attended by District Programme Officer Akhter Hussain Qazi; Assistant Commissioner Development Din Mohammad Affaqi; CDPO Nissar Hussain and Naib-Tehsildar Praban Kumar Sodhi.

The presence of the Principal of GHSS Assar, Zonal Physical Education Officer, SHO Police Station Assar and other departmental officials further strengthened the impact of the event.

The event symbolized unity, awareness and shared responsibility in tackling the menace of drugs. It also highlighted the administration’s proactive approach through awareness campaigns, community engagement and youth empowerment initiatives. The programme concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to actively contribute towards building a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir, reinforcing the message that a united society can effectively combat drug addiction and secure a healthier future for the coming generations.
