Jammu: The budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has started today (March 3). Before the budget session of the assembly, Omar Abdullah gave a statement regarding Article 370 and the restoration of the status of the special state. He also dismissed speculations of an alliance with the BJP. CM Omar Abdullah became emotional remembering former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
In a brief conversation with reporters after the Lieutenant Governor’s address on the first day of the budget session here today, Omar Abdullah said that the proposal we had brought regarding the restoration of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir is still intact. He said that we have done what we had to do in the first session.
He said that all parties including the PDP supported the bill, which was passed by the House. He further said that this is the same bill which everyone expected to be rejected, but it was passed by the House. The proposal is still present today and this is a big thing.
Responding to a question on speculation of an alliance between the National Conference (NC) and the BJP, Omar said that there are no talks going on about any alliance with the BJP, nor is there any need or scope for it. Our views do not match. Our stand on Jammu and Kashmir is completely different and we will discuss all issues during the session.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah became emotional in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly while remembering the late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Omar Abdullah said that the point that India and Pakistan had reached during Manmohan Singh’s era in resolving the Kashmir issue can never be reached now.
