J&K Budget 2025: Will Jammu and Kashmir get statehood? LG Manoj Sinha made a big statement in the assembly

Jammu: The budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has started from today. Addressing the assembly, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the government is committed to granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He said that this budget has historical importance. It is worthwhile to mention here that the first budget will be presented after Jammu and Kashmir became a Union Territory.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the government is committed to fulfilling the aspiration of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for statehood. Addressing the first budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in seven years, Sinha said that this session is not just a legislative formality but a reflection of his commitment to good governance, transparency and inclusive development.

He said that one of the biggest aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is to restore full statehood. The government is firm on its commitment to fulfill this aspiration. He said the Government recognizes the emotional and political significance of this aspiration and is committed to engaging with all stakeholders.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said this Budget holds historic significance as it is the first Budget presented by an elected Government in Jammu and Kashmir in seven years. It is a symbol of the power of the people, crafted by their elected representatives.

The Lt Governor further said this Budget document is not only financial but also reflects the hopes and aspirations of the public for a brighter future. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to maintain peace and prosperity and to fulfil the promises made to the people.

He said despite the challenges, the economy has shown remarkable growth. The Government is working to make Jammu and Kashmir a progressive economy.
