Kashmir railways to be equipped with modern facilities: Ashwini Vaishnav

*USBRL project to be completed by Jan/Feb 2024*

Today, on 25.03.2023 Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India arrived at Budgam Railway Station under Northern Railway. General Manager Northern Railway Mr. Ashutosh Gangal, Divisional Railway Manager Ferozepur Dr. Seema Sharma and senior officials welcomed the Honorable Railway Minister at Budgam Railway Station. Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India inquired about various procedures related to maintenance of trains at Carriage & Wagon Depot, Budgam. He had a detailed discussion with the officers on all matters related to the maintenance of the train and gave necessary guidelines.
Hon’ble Railway Minister reached Baramulla Railway Station from Budgam Railway Station by special inspection car. He made a detailed overview of the safety and security of this railway section. The Hon’ble Railway Minister took stock of the passenger amenities at Baramulla Railway Station. The Hon’ble Railway Minister discussed with the concerned railway officers the development works to be done at Baramulla railway station of the division. Along with this, the Honorable Railway Minister interacted with the railway employees working at Baramulla Railway Station. Hon’ble Railway Minister also inspected the dry fruits stall of “One Station One Product” at Baramulla Railway Station and appreciated the local dry fruits of Baramulla at the stall and paid through digital medium by purchasing dry fruits.
After this, the Honorable Railway Minister reached Srinagar Railway Station in a special inspection car. Parcel Office was inaugurated at Srinagar Railway Station in the august presence of Hon’ble Railway Minister Shri Ashwani Vaishnav. Hon’ble Railway Minister also inspected the stall of “One Station One Product” at Srinagar Railway Station. Hon’ble Railway Minister addressed a large number of journalists present at Srinagar Railway Station. The USBRL project will be completed by Jan/Feb 2024. The budget allocation for the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail project was about Rs 800 crore per year before 2014, which has been increased to Rs 6000 crore in the year 2022-23. After connecting with the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla train service, a specially built Vande Bharat train will be introduced in this rail section.
