LAST WARNING

The government in J&K has been adopting a multipronged strategy to counter drug menace and to make it successful various quarters are making concerted efforts with DGP Dilbag Singh taking the lead as he has given warning to all those indulging in narcotics trade that anyone found involved in drug trade shall be booked under Public Safety Act. Such steps have become significant because lately the situation has turned alarming in the Union Territory with narcotics trade going on unabated and even terror outfits sitting across the borders sending drug consignments using the drones acquired by Pakistan from China and other countries. With the neighbouring country using this trade to generate money and resources to continue its proxy war in J&K, it becomes imperative for the concerned quarters to take extra measures for ensuring zero tolerance against this illegal trade as it is not only helping the adversaries to generate money for anti-national activities but also ruining the next generation because hundreds of youths have become addicts due to easy availability of drugs in the vicinity. This has become a major challenge and therefore the administration should brace up against this menace and stop it fully through tough measures. In this context, Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan has also given necessary directions to the concerned agencies for ensuring strict enforcement of drug control rules. It is pertinent to mention that stopping substance abuse among the people is also a significant step in eliminating the illegal narcotic trade as decrease in demand will automatically affect the trade. There is dire need to adopt a more effective multi pronged strategy to counter this menace which is eating up the vitals of society. What is more intriguing is the fact that the money generated through this trade is used for propelling terrorism in the region which makes it more dangerous and therefore initiatives like booking the narcotics traders under PSA and taking stringent actions to curb this menace have become vital to end the scourge from the union territory as already much harm have been caused by the indifference shown by the successive dispensations which never gave a serious thought to this ever existing problem.
