The disclosure made by Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh that the traces of separatist Hurriyat Conference have been completely eliminated from Jammu and Kashmir is really a big one because this entity played a very shameful and odious role in destabilizing J&K especially the Valley. Of course, like in many other negative factors in Kashmir, there was an active hand of Pakistan in helping their stooges in India to sustain this ‘institution’ for long. One can say with full confidence that the inception of BJP Government in 2014 brought in many significant changes in the country with nullification of Article 370 being the most important as this has led to radical changes in the erstwhile state of J&K, which has now turned out to be a Union Territory after bifurcation of J&K into Ladakh UT and J&K UT. The BJP government after making the Article 370 null and void has turned its full focus on wiping out terrorism from the soil of J&K and the end of Hurriyat Conference from Kashmir is a big step in this direction as the top cop in J&K has time and again assured that the terrorism is on last leg and sooner than later the last man indulging in violence or separatism will be neutralized or apprehended in Valley as government, security forces and the police have been working with complete synergy to end the terrorism from the soil of J&K. There is no doubt that Pakistan is trying hard to revive Hurriyat Conference in Valley but the people these days are abreast with the situation and know it very well that the country’s western neighbour is not their friend but a foe which is satiating its vested interests by fueling terrorism and separatism in this part of the world and that is the reason the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is not getting any takers for propelling the Hurriyat Conference in Kashmir. Considering this crisis, Pakistan is making failed attempts to run Hurriyat Conference from its soil. It is a known fact that the rogue nation will not stop its efforts to vitiate atmosphere in J&K but what is good for India is that the people in Valley have changed their stance completely and are extending whole hearted support to the government’s endeavours in restoring peace and normalcy and ending gun culture that ruined almost three decades in the past. All the credit for the present promising situation in J&K goes to PM Narendra Modi and LG Manoj Sinha’s administration in J&K for showing grit and consistency in controlling the situation.
