TAP TOURISM POTENTIAL

TAP TOURISM POTENTIAL

As the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra is underway, the administration in Jammu should take all steps to woo the visitors towards the tourist destinations to tap the tourism potential to the hilt. There is also a dire need to provide seamless facilities to the tourists visiting the tourism destinations in the Jammu region. As there is comparatively hot and humid climate in most of the places in Jammu, the concerned department should ensure air conditioning as far as possible. Take the example of Mansar lake or Surinsar lake, the facilities out there are still archaic and no effort has been made to add more charm to place. The eateries, government restaurants etc are offering the tourists the same facilities which they used to offer a decade ago. If possible the government should rope in private partners to develop such spots to level next as tourists these days want world class facilities and the money is no constraint for them. Why not government is considering coming up with a three star hotel or something like this in places like Mansar, Mantalai, Surinsar or Sanasar to give an attractive package to the tourists? Why is so that by providing tents and mere basic facility to tourists visiting Bhaderwah government thinks it has done its job? These are the questions which need comprehensive answers because until and unless international standard facilities will not be provided to the tourists, the flock of tourists will remain limited. It is necessary that some big steps should be taken to provide much required boost to the tourism in Jammu Division because despite the footfall oflakhs of pilgrims very few can be swayed to potential tourist destinations of the Jammu region which is a failure of the stakeholders as the places of tourist interest in the region are no less than any other place in the country but the phlegmatic approach and inhibition of the concerned government functionaries are stopping the tourism to attain wings and fly high in sky. The way out is simple to invest and create edifice to allure the visitors and ensure bright future for the tourism stakeholders of the region.
