Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami said that what happened on August 5, 2019, was completely unconstitutional, illegal and unjustified. “We have decided that we will convene a meeting of parliamentarians and leaders and place this white paper before them and if possible hand over a copy of it to the President of India as well.”
Tarigami said that whatever the central government did in the year 2019 was an insult to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. We will organize a meeting of various MPs and leaders to apprise them of the injustice done to Jammu and Kashmir. Whatever has happened in Jammu and Kashmir, its effect will also be seen in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Those who have faith in the spirit and ideology of Indianness will also be affected by this. The peace imposed in Jammu and Kashmir should not be taken as our consent to the unconstitutional move of August 5, 2019.
All senior leaders including Dr Farooq Abdullah, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, Acting President of Awami National Conference Muzaffar Shah were present in the meeting.
