An encounter ensued on Tuesday after militants attacked security forces in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, official sources said here.
They said militants attacked a security force party at Marahama in Anantnag on Tuesday. However, they said no one was injured in the attack.
They said the militants escaped from the spot, adding the ultras were intercepted in a nearby area by a joint team of police and Army which was called in. “The exchange of fire between militants and security forces was going on when the reports last came in,” they said.
They said additional security forces have been rushed to the area to foil any attempts by militants to escape.
