Filing of charge sheet in Pulwama case by NIA a big slap on the opposition: Brig Gupta

National Investigating Agency filed yesterday a 13,800 pages chargesheet against 19 accused persons in NIA Special Court at Jammu in connection with the terrorist attack on CRPF convoy on 14 February 2019 at Laithpura, Pulwama with an IED laden vehicle. The NIA has mentioned Masood Azhar, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief as the main accused and given detailed account of planning and execution of the deadly attack including the logistics involved in moving the explosives used in the attack. The NIA chargesheet unambiguously accuses Pakistan of its involvement in the terrorist attack executed by a local terrorist Adil Dar resulting in the martyrdom of 40 CRPF personnel and grievous injuries to 08 others stated Brig Veteran Anil Gupta, a security analyst and Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party.

The list of accused includes 7 Pakistani nationals and 12 belonging to Kashmir, India. The chargesheet states, “The investigation has revealed that Pulwama attack was a result of well-planned criminalconspiracy hatched by Pakistan-based leadership of terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad.  The JeM leaders have been sending their cadres to the terrorist training camps of Al Qaeda-Taliban-JeM and Haqqani- JeM in Afghanistan for receiving training in explosives and other terrorist tactics.” It leaves no doubt of Pakistan’s involvement but the opposition leaders led by Rahul Gandhi had spared no effort to give a clean chit to Pakistan in an ugly attempt to politicise the entire issue rued Brig Gupta.

Among many issues the opposition had raised questions about the timing of the attack, source of such large quantity of explosive hinting that it may be an insider’s job. The opposition became even more vocal after the arrest of JKP Dy SP Davinder Singh and went to the extent of accusing the security forces and once again giving a clean chit to Pakistan. Congress leader Adhir Chowdhury said, “the chink in the armour is exposed in the Valley.” He also demanded a “fresh look” in the entire incident. The Congress even accused of a “bigger conspiracy” when its Spokesperson and faithful of Gandhi family RandeepSingh Surjewala said, “is he only a pawn, as master conspirators are elsewhere?”

As early as 14 February this year lose canon Rahul Gandhi had tweeted, “who benefitted the most from the attack?” Rahul once again spared Pakistan in an attempt to politicise the dastardly attack.  Rahul Gandhi and others should now apologise to the security forces and the nation for such senseless accusations demanded Brig Gupta. Even now neither Rahul nor other Congress leaders will directly blame Pakistan because their links with Pakistani terrorists have been exposed in the book titled, “The Myth of Hindu Terror” by RVS Mani, a retired bureaucrat.

The report has also exposed and silenced those who had been questioning the government about transportation of explosive material. The explosive was brought from across the border in their backpacks and the balance requirement was met through purchases from e-commerce platforms. Is it that easy to get such materials through e-commerce? The charge of intelligence failures is genuine and needs to be investigated with exemplary punishment to the defaulters demanded Brig Gupta. Furthermore, since the NIA has proved with video evidence that infiltration did take place from the IB sector, all those involved in the cover up operation by giving clean chit to BSF and local police should also be taken to task.
