Governing Body reviews functioning of SMVD College of Nursing

 The 37th Governing Body meeting of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held here today and reviewed various aspects of functioning of the college. The meeting also discussed several matters relating to the future growth and development of the college as a top ranking institution in the field of nursing education.

          While reviewing to-date status in regard to pursuing of internship by the students of SMVDCoN, the GB emphasised the need for according very high focus on the internships of the students so that they could gain sufficient clinical work experience and expertise. The 6-month internship of the first batch of the SMVDCoN, which is passing out next year, will commence from January 2020 at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, for which a comprehensive clinical training plan was finalised.

Emphasising for optimally enhancing the prospects of suitable placements of the passing-out students of the college, the GB took stock of various pre-placement activities organised by the Placement Cell of the SMVDCoN. In this context, the GB also stressed for exploring possibilities for entering into collaborations with various leading nursing institutions in the country to provide maximum work experience to the students.

The Governing Body meeting chaired by Maj. Gen. S. K. Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board; was attended by Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Dr. V. Verma, Dean, SMVDU; Dr. (Brig) M. M. Harjai, Administrator, SMVDCoN; Dr. J. P. Singh, Senior Consultant, Neuro Surgery, SMVDNSH; and Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College.

The GB also finalised the arrangements in connection with the organising of 4th Lamp Lighting Ceremony and Annual Day function of the college shortly.

          The GB also in detail took stock of progress on the upcoming infrastructure of SMVDCoN which is being completed as per envisaged timelines.Other matters that came up for review of the GB meeting, interalia, included various activities undertaken by the SMVDCoN during the past months, besides discussed modalities for bringing out a publication on the activities and growth story of the first four years of functioning of the college since its establishment in 2016.
