Excise sleuths conduct raids in Kathua, destroy 1300 kg Lahan, 5 litres illicit liquor  

Excise Department on Monday destroyed about 1300 kg of Lahan (raw material of illicit liquor) and five litres of illicit liquor during different raids carried out to arrest the menace of illicit distillation and sale of liquor in Excise Range Kathua.

On the directions of the Excise Commissioner Mr M. Raju and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu S. Amarjeet Singh, the teams of department’s Enforcement Wing and Excise Range Kathua led by ETOs, Virender Kumar and Mohammad Rafi Naik, comprising Excise Inspectors Arun Kumar, Sushil Khajuria and SIs, Sanjeev Kumar, Bodh Raj Goswami and Excise Guard Jyoti Prakash and Vikas Babouria raided Upper Sakta Chak, Lower Skta Chak and Barnoti areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.

In the process, about 1300 kg of Lahan and five litres of illicit liquor, which is highly hazardous and injurious for health was recovered by the raiding team from state land & later destroyed on spot.

The Excise Commissioner lauded the efforts of the teams and asked them to work with full zeal to check the menace of illicit distillation and sale of liquor.
