Sahu inspects developmental projects in Poonch, Reviews performance of key departments

Commissioner Secretary PHE, Irrigation Flood Control, Ajeet Kumar Sahu today inspected progress of developmental projects across Poonch district and reviewed the performance of key departments.

DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav and other officers of district administration accompanied him during spot inspections.

The Secretary also inspected pace of progress on construction of bunkers along border areas and inaugurated WSS Schemes. He also took a review meeting of district and sectoral officers.

The Secretary inaugurated WSS Dhoki Ban Salotri, completed under NRDWP, and took detailed appraisal of the scheme.

On the occasion, he planted Pecan nut saplings around the installation and advised for construction of waterbeds for watering the plants. He also inspected the upgradation works undertaken at WSS Jhulas Upper.

The Commissioner Secretary inspected progress on Sports stadium Poonch, Dairy farm at Kanuiyaa and projects taken up under different agriculture schemes at Khanater and Dalera. He also inspected progress on the construction of bunkers in border areas of Salotri and Karmar.

During the review meeting, the Secretary reviewed the performance and achievements of Agriculture, PHE, PDD, PWD Departments and also issued directions on certain critical issues. He directed the Chief Engineer I&FC for increasing the water storage potential for irrigation, while the local functionaries were asked to formulate district irrigation plan. He further exhorted upon making use of the irrigation potential of Parnai hydropower project.

While reviewing the performance of PHE department, the Secretary inquired about the water supply scenario and directed for 100% coverage of Government schools in the district.

Reviewing the functioning of PDD department, the Secretary   directed for electrification of all the schools of Poonch. He also took stock of works of PWD and enquired about the status of Mandi Fagla Road.

 The Secretary also reviewed the working of Social Welfare department and took stock of the left out cases of Pension.
