
POONCH, MAY 04: District administration Poonch today organised a massive “Nasha Mukt” (Drug Free) awareness rally as part of the ongoing 100 day Jammu & Kashmir anti drug campaign.
The rally commenced from the Sports Stadium and passed through Dungas Chowk, Labour Chowk, Parade Chowk and Nakha Wali Chowk, before culminating back at the Sports Stadium. Thousands of school and College students participated in the rally with great enthusiasm, alongside officers, officials and members of civil society.
Participants carried the National Tricolour, symbolising their love for the nation and raised impactful slogans such as “Yes to Life, No to Drugs” along with other “Nasha Mukt” messages, spreading awareness among the public throughout the route.
Earlier, the rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma in presence of SSP Shafqat Hussain. Notable participants included Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik, Principal GDC Dr Jasbir Singh, along with other officers.
At the end, participants took solemn pledge, reaffirming their commitment towards building a drug free society. District Social Welfare Officer Khalil A Banday administered the pledge.
Heads of the district level departments also participated, reflecting a coordinated and unified approach of the administration in tackling the menace of drug abuse.
The rally forms a key component of the Government’s 100 day campaign aimed at sensitising the public, particularly the youth, about the ill effects of substance abuse and encouraging community participation.
Notably, the district has witnessed massive public engagement, with more than 3 lakh people participating in over 1,800 awareness and outreach activities conducted across the district.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to continue such initiatives to ensure a healthier, safer and drug free Poonch.
