SAMBA, APRIL 17: Reflecting ground level impact of Agriculture development interventions, progressive Farmer Sham Singh has grown seedless cucumbers at its Hi-Tech Poly House established at village Badoi-Bari Brahmana by availing benefits of Holistic Agriculture Development Programme(HADP) schemes.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jagdish Singh inaugurated the first harvest of the exotic crop, which was started today in the presence of the Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Rakesh Khajuria, AEO Yakh Deepak Jamwal and other departmental officials of Zone Yakh.
The Hi-Tech Poly House project, a cornerstone of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), empowers farmers by providing controlled environments for high-value crop cultivation. The facility allows year-round production, protecting crops from adverse weather and pests while significantly increasing yield compared to traditional open-field farming,
During the harvest, the ADC commended the beneficiary farmer for adopting innovative practices. “The project has placed Samba on the map for high-quality, exotic produce, besides benefiting the owner,” he stated.
The progressive Farmer hopes to harvest around 65 quintal seedless cucumbers in 3 months, fetching him handsome income. He appealed to the young generation to come forward & adopt innovative farming by establishing Hi-Tech Polyhouses instead of running for jobs.
