UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 28: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, today chaired a meeting of the multi-departmental District-Level Task Force Cell to review enforcement measures in place to curb illegal mining in the district.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed enforcement challenges and discussed strategies for effective monitoring and control. Emphasis was laid on strengthening regulatory mechanisms to ensure strict compliance with mining laws and environmental norms.
The DC urged officers to adopt a vigilant and proactive approach in identifying and curbing illegal mineral extraction. Stressing a policy of zero tolerance, she called for stringent legal and punitive action against violators to deter future infractions.
To further tighten surveillance, the DC directed to install GPS devices in all vehicles transporting minerals to enable real-time tracking and prevent unauthorized transportation.
