Kathua pays tributes to the son of soil Martyr Capt Sunil Choudhary

KATHUA, JANUARY 27: A solemn tribute paying ceremony was held today at Capt Sunil Choudhary Chowk Kathua to commemorate the death anniversary of Martyr (Capt Sunil Choudhary), who laid down his life in the service of the nation.

Member Legislative Assembly Kathua, Dr Bharat Bhushan, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, Army officers, family members of the martyr, prominent citizens and Ex-Servicemen gathered to pay floral tributes and honour the supreme sacrifice of the brave soldier. Army personnel also paid rich tributes, adding solemnity to the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Col (Retd) P.L. Choudhary, father of the martyr recalled the bravery and dedication of Capt Sunil Choudhary, who attained martyrdom while confronting militants in Assam on January 27, 2008. He said that his son’s sacrifice continues to inspire the younger generation and his legacy will always remain alive in the hearts of the people.

Addressing the gathering, the MLA and the DC highlighted the exemplary courage and valour of Capt Sunil Choudhary, describing him as a proud son of Kathua district. They also paid tributes to all martyrs from the region. “All of them made supreme sacrifices for the unity and integrity of the nation,” they said while terming Kathua as a land of brave warriors.

The dignitaries expressed hope that such commemorative events would strengthen patriotic values among the youth and motivate them to contribute actively towards nation-building.
