The farmers of the border area Rs pura today protested demanding fair compensation and waiving off loan as their paddy and other crops were totally damaged due to recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms.
The protest was held outside the Rs Pura, Sdm office under the Congress Party Senior Leader Choudhary Mohan Singh. The farmers gathered in front of tehsil office and raised slogans against the Govt and Disst adminstration officers demanding fair compensation and waiving off loans.
The protesting farmers submitted a memorandum to the Tehsildar Rs Pura highlighting their demand.
Congress Leader Choudhary Mohan Singh while talking to reporters said that 90 percent crop of farmers has been damaged due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm.
Congress Leader said that after the paddy crop developed disease no district official took care of the farmers.
The farmers have appealed the Lieutenant Governor that district authorities’ and other officers be directed to assess the damaged crop of the farmers and they be given appropriate compensation and loan waiver.
The farmers said that if the Lt. Governor administration did not waive off the loans and proper compensation was not given within 10 days, they would be constrained to block the Rs pura Jammu Road and Govt will be responsible for the same. Sarpanch Ravinder singh, Jatinder Bhagat, Bupinder singh, Dyan singh, Karamjeet singh,Santokh singh and other farmers present on this occasion.
