Amit Sharma, Administrator, Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals Jammu while continuing with night checking drives led a surprise round inside the Paediatrics and ENT departments of Government SMGS Hospital Jammu yesterday night. He was accompanied by Dr Mrs Rama, Sr CMO of the Hospital, two Supervisors and all requisite security and cleanliness staff during this surprise night checking visit to various wings of SMGS Hospital.
Administrator Amit Sharma began the round of SMGS Hospital with a visit to the Paediatrics Emergency and took a spot review of the arrangements inside it wherein all the critical cases are being referred here from all ten districts of Jammu Division. Most of the equipments and related stock were found in order in Paediatrics Emergency alongwith Para Medical and related staff who were also found working. But the Administrator pointed out that there should be less or minimal presence of attendants inside the 24×7 Emergency in future so that the Doctors and Nurses can perform their duties with total concentration and cure the ailing kids professionally. And he directed Security Staff of SMGS to ensure same in letter and spirit in future.
Apart from this, Amit Sharma also took a round of PICU and NICO Wards alongwith his team wherein serious as well as neo-natal infants are getting treated respectively and he had a detailed interaction with the staff present there and he directed to note down further requirements of Doctors inside these Wards so that the same could be met at the earliest, primarily with the objective of saving the precious lives of kids admitted in these Wards. He interacted with the attendants of kids getting treated in this Emergency block and also appreciated the professional approach of staff and medicos working inside these Critical Wards.
Administrator Amit Sharma personally took a round of General Washrooms, Corridors, Bathrooms and Shauchalayas of all the Wards located at First Floor of SMGS Hospital during late night hours and directed Sulabh as well as Hospital Sweeping Supervisors to ensure round the clock cleanliness in all these areas and also directed SMGS staff to get immediate repairs done in this behalf. He also checked Water Dispensers and directed Hospital authorities to get them made fully functional with ROs immediately. Amit also inspected the Canteen blocks of the Hospital and directed all Canteen owners to ensure total hygiene and cleanliness in and around Canteen areas without fail.
In the final round, Administrator Amit Sharma took a round of SMGS Wards and Corridors located on the Ground floor wherein lot of rush was found outside Labour and Registration Rooms and Hospital Staff was directed to explore the possibilities of alternate accommodation for the attendants lying down inside these corridors, other than the existing limited capacity waiting rooms and it was decided that the old waiting room shall be made functional at the earliest so as to negotiate huge rush of attendants in these winter months till new blocks of the Hospital are constructed.
Before leaving, Amit Sharma directed that all para medical staff and doctors working in GMC and Associated Hospitals should wear white aprons and proper uniforms alongwith display of name plates as a matter of protocol as it is a very useful step for the convenience of patients and their attendants. He also jotted down the challenges being faced by Doctors and assured that the same shall be addressed after taking-up same with their respective HoDs and Principal, Government Medical College Jammu.
