National Conference Senior Leader and former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabar on Thursday met Former Indian Cricketer Suresh Raina here in Srinagar.
In a statement issued Jabbar the former Legislator from Ganderbal today met Former International Cricketer Suresh Raina and invited him to visit Ganderbal and set up a academy to train aspiring cricketers, particularly youngsters.
Mr Jabbar requested him as you have agreed to set up five schools in Kashmir division and an equal number in Jammu division to train aspiring cricketers, I request you kindly set up one in Ganderbal as Ganderbal has great sports talent, Jabaar added.
Ishfaq also discussed with him the problems faced by the young cricketers while playing the game. The former MLA further said that different sports activities in Jammu and Kashmir would help the youth in channelizing their energy in positive directions.
Raina assured Jabbar that he will visit Ganderbal and said that since my ancestors belong to Kashmir and I myself feel deeply connected to my roots in the valley as a Kashmiri Pandit originally, I felt the need to inculcate strong sportsmanship, cricketing spirit, and values for our children and youth in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
During the meeting NC former MLA Phalgam Altaf Ahmad Kaloo and Social activist Zahoor Malik were also present.
Ishfaq was accompanied by Youth Leader Mir Mushtaq and others.
