Eight security guards who were deployed for the protection of the slain BJP leader in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, have been arrested for negligence by the state police. The guards will be questioned in connection with Wasim Bari’s killing by terrorists on Wednesday evening.
“Yes, all the PSOs detailed in the security of the slain BJP leader, Wasim Bari, have been arrested during the investigations started into the murder of Bari, his father and brother by militants yesterday in Bandipora district”, police said.
Police said that none of Bari’s security guards was present when he was attacked at his shop at about 8.45 pm on Wednesday. According to reports, the guards were inside the house when the terrorists attacked the young BJP leader, his father and his brother at their shop located close to the house in Muslimabad area of Bandipora.
“In this terror incident BJP leader identified as Wasim Bari, his father Bashir Ahmad and his brother Umer Bashir got seriously injured. All the three injured persons were shifted to hospital but unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries,” Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a press release.
PM Modi enquired about Wasim Bari’s killing
Leaders from across party lines condemned the horrific act. PM Narendra Modi also condemned the killing of the leader and extended condolences to the family. “Over the telephone, PM Narendra Modi enquired about the gruesome killing of Wasim Bari. He also extended condolences to the family of Wasim,” Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh said in a tweet.
