
In a significant step towards promoting digital participation and ensuring smooth conduct of Census 2027, the District Administration Reasi today launched the self-enumeration drive at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, Reasi. MLA, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly Constituency, Baldev Raj Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion.
The launch programme witnessed participation from senior officers and officials associated with the Census exercise, aimed at creating awareness about the digital self-enumeration process and strengthening preparedness for the upcoming Census operations.
During the programme, District Coordinator Census, Reasi, Divyendu Singh sensitised participants about the use of the online self-enumeration portal and elaborated on the procedure for digital submission of Census data. He informed that the portal (se.census.gov.in) enables citizens to complete the self-enumeration process conveniently from any location and at any time through digital devices, thereby making the Census exercise more accessible, efficient and citizen-friendly.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Officer Census and Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Kumar Abhishek, informed that the Self-Enumeration process will be conducted from May 17 to May 31, 2026. He stated that the initiative provides citizens an opportunity to furnish household details online prior to the official door-to-door Census survey, ensuring greater accuracy and convenience in data collection. The DC further informed that field validation and house-listing verification by Census Enumerators will be undertaken from June 1, 2026. He emphasised that Enumerators have a vital responsibility in ensuring complete and accurate coverage so that every household is included in the Census exercise.
Underscoring the importance of data privacy, DC stressed that confidentiality of Census information must be maintained at all stages of the process. He highlighted that reliable and comprehensive Census data serves as a crucial foundation for evidence-based planning, effective policy formulation and targeted developmental initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Baldev Raj Sharma called upon citizens to actively participate in the Self-Enumeration Drive and extend wholehearted cooperation to Census officials for the successful and inclusive conduct of Census 2027. He appreciated the efforts of the District Administration for creating widespread awareness among the masses and encouraging citizens to utilise the digital platform for self-enumeration.
Among those present on the occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Nitin Verma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Katra Piyush Dhotra, Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar, District Information Officer, Tehsildars and other concerned officers and officials.
