DC Bandipora participates in Amavasya Celebrations at Nandkishwar Bhairava Asthapan Sumbal Huge gathering marks event

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today participated in the Amavasya celebrations at the historic Nandkishwar Bhairava Asthapan in Sumbal and joined devotees in the religious observances held on the occasion.

This year, a large number of devotees, including Kashmiri Pandits from various parts of Kashmir, participated in the celebrations with great devotion and enthusiasm.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner, along with SDM Sumbal Sheikh Murtaza, interacted with devotees, members of the shrine management committee, and local residents, and extended greetings on the auspicious occasion. She also prayed for peace, prosperity, and communal harmony in the district.

Locals in Bandipora expressed joy over the vibrant celebrations at the temple and requested the Deputy Commissioner to ensure the upkeep and development of the temple premises to facilitate similar events in the future.

Devotees and members of the management committee highlighted the need for additional facilities, including the construction of toilets and a sarai for the accommodation of visiting pilgrims.

Former Municipal Chairman Sumbal, Jahangir Ahmad; President Traders Association Sumbal, Nazir Ahmad Reshi; members of civil society; and local residents warmly welcomed the devotees and extended support during the mela. They also urged the administration to create adequate facilities to accommodate larger gatherings in the future.

The Mandir Committee members present on the occasion included Veer Ji Raina (Chairman), Ashok Kumar Bhat (President), and Veer Ji Bhat (Vice President) and other  members.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the support extended by local residents, traders, and volunteers in ensuring the smooth conduct of the event and said such occasions strengthen communal harmony, brotherhood, and shared cultural heritage.

On the occasion, SDM Sumbal and other officers remained present to oversee arrangements related to sanitation, traffic regulation, drinking water, and other facilities for the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
