
SHOPIAN, MAY 08: A wide range of awareness and outreach activities were today conducted across district Shopian under the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students, youth, teachers, religious leaders, transporters, government departments, educational institutions and members of civil society.
The day-long campaign featured pledge ceremonies, awareness rallies, sports activities, yoga sessions, poster display campaigns, counselling sessions, seminars, debates and public interaction programmes aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, disciplined and drug-free society.
Educational institutions across the district actively participated by organizing anti-drug awareness programmes, storytelling sessions, sports activities and yoga sessions to encourage students towards positive and healthy lifestyles. Students and staff members pledged to remain away from drugs and to act as ambassadors of awareness in society.
Special awareness drives and outreach programmes were also carried out by various government departments including Health, Education, RDD, AYUSH, ICDS, Co-operative, Labour, Transport, Jal Shakti, MC, Agri allied departments, and other departments as part of the intensified campaign.
Religious institutions also played an important role in the movement, as special sermons and awareness messages against drug abuse were delivered during Friday congregational prayers in mosques across different villages and tehsils of the district.
Religious scholars emphasized moral responsibility, social harmony and collective efforts to safeguard youth from the menace of substance abuse.
Transporters, farmers, traders, youth groups and local communities joined hands in spreading the message of “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” through public pledges, poster displays and community awareness activities held at various locations.
The campaign witnessed overwhelming public response and reflected the collective resolve of the administration and society to build a safer, healthier and drug-free Shopian through sustained awareness, prevention and community participation.
