District Cooperative Development Committee meeting held at Udhampur Focus on strengthening cooperative ecosystem

UDHAMPUR, MAY 04: A meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee was convened today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa to deliberate on strategies for strengthening the cooperative movement in the district and enhancing its outreach at the grassroots level.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan; ACP Dr. Ashwani Hansa; Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Nishtha Nayyar and officers from various line departments and representatives of banking institutions.

At the outset, the Deputy Registrar Cooperatives listed the initiatives being undertaken to strengthen the cooperative sector in the district. She also highlighted the awareness programmes organized to promote cooperative societies and educate the public about their benefits.

The DC emphasized the need for greater synergy among Cooperative Department and line departments to effectively implement awareness campaigns. He directed the concerned authorities to intensify efforts to sensitize the public, promote local products especially Garlic, Guchi mushroom, Jaggery and strengthen market linkages with special focus on high-value produce such as Guchi.

He further instructed the concerned officers to take concrete steps to revitalize inactive cooperatives and expand business activities in other areas such as petrol pumps, handmade local products and enhance their operational efficiency for the benefit of local communities.

He underscored the importance of building a robust cooperative ecosystem and assured full support from the District Administration in achieving the desired objectives.
