ADC Bhaderwah chairs Census 2026 meeting

BHADERWAH, APRIL: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bhaderwah, Sunil Kumar Bhutyal chaired a meeting regarding the upcoming Census 2026 at Dak Bunglow Bhaderwah. The meeting focused on preparations and awareness for the smooth conduct of India’s 16th Census.

India’s 16th Census, scheduled to begin its first phase from April 1, 2026, will be the world’s first fully digital population census. The census will be conducted in two phases—House Listing (April to September 2026) and Population Enumeration (February 2027).

During the meeting, it was informed that ADC Bhaderwah will serve as the District Census Officer, while the Tehsildar Bhaderwah has been designated as the Census Charge Officer for rural areas. Tehsildar Bhaderwah, Kamalpreet Singh, appealed to the public to actively participate in Census 2026 to ensure accurate data collection and effective planning for development.

The schedule for census activities includes Self-enumeration & house listing: May 17 to May 31, 2026, House listing & housing census: June 2026 Population enumeration (snow-bound areas): September–October 2026, Final population enumeration: February 2027 and Publication of results: March 2027.

The meeting was attended by census staff members and former sarpanches from various panchayats, who were briefed about their roles and responsibilities in the census process.

The ADC emphasized the importance of cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure the successful and transparent conduct of Census 2026.
