Training Programme for Surveyors under Mission Gyan Bharatam held at Bandipora

BANDIPORA, APRIL 16: A comprehensive training programme under the Mission Gyan Bharatam was conducted today for nominated surveyors at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, Bandipora.

The training session witnessed participation from surveyors representing all blocks and municipal areas of the district, aimed at strengthening capacity building for the smooth conduct of the upcoming survey. The programme focused on equipping participants with the necessary skills and knowledge for identification, documentation and digitisation of manuscripts under the Mission.

The training was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, District Mineral Officer and other concerned officials. The programme also witnessed participation of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal and Gurez, Tehsildars, Block Development Officers (BDOs), and Executive Officers (EOs) of Municipal Committees of Bandipora, who joined mostly through virtual mode. Officials from Sub-Divisions Gurez and Sumbal, including Gurez-based surveyors, also attended the session through virtual mode.

Notably, Dr Jahangir Iqbal, Head, Department of Persian, University of Kashmir and UT Coordinator, Mission Gyan Bharatam, J&K, participated in the programme as a resource person and provided expert insights on manuscript identification, historical significance, and preservation techniques, enriching the overall learning experience for the participants.

During the session, resource persons provided detailed guidance on survey methodology, standardised procedures, and use of digital tools for data collection and reporting. Participants were sensitised about accurate identification of manuscripts, proper documentation protocols, and the importance of maintaining consistency and reliability in the survey process.

An interactive session was also held, enabling participants to seek clarifications and enhance their understanding of field-level execution.

The training programme marks an important step towards effective implementation of the Gyan Bharatam Mission in the district, aimed at preservation and digitisation of valuable manuscript heritage through a structured and coordinated approach.
