
KISHTWAR, APRIL 14: The festival of Baisakhi was celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit in District Kishtwar. The celebrations were marked by the organization of a traditional historic Dangal and a Nukkad Natak at the historic Chowgan Ground under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma.
The event was organised as a part of the ongoing UT Wide 100 Days Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan Campaign by the District Administration Kishtwar in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIC), Social Welfare Department Kishtwar and Dangal Committee Kishtwar.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pawan Kotwal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The event witnessed the participation of thousands of people from across the region, reflecting the district’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage.
In his message, the ADC extended warm Baisakhi greetings to the people and lauded the participants of the Dangal for their commendable efforts in upholding the legacy of this iconic event.
The Dangal drew enthusiastic participation from wrestlers and spectators alike, showcasing the region’s deep-rooted love for traditional sports. The event not only provided entertainment but also served as a platform to promote communal harmony and social unity.
The ADC also distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up of the Dangal competition, as well as participants of the Nukkad Natak, acknowledging their enthusiastic and commendable participation.
A Nukkad Natak was also presented by Kishtwar Art Production, delivering a strong message to the audience about staying away from drug abuse.
Among others present on the occasion were DSWO Kishtwar, Tariq Parveaz Qazi, Tehsildar HQ to DC, Mohd Rafie Naik along with other officers, staff of DIPR (DIC) Kishtwar and Members of the Dangal Committee Kishtwar.
