There are two travel routes to reach the holy cave

There are two routes to reach the holy cave of Shri Amarnath – Pahalgam and Baltal route. Devotees give more importance to Pahalgam Yatra route. This path is also mentioned in the stories. On the other hand, those who want to cover the journey in less time choose the Baltal travel route. The journey by this route can be completed in a day.

It takes three days to complete the journey via Pahalgam route. To save time, many devotees return via the Baltal route after reaching the holy cave. If the weather is clear, one can reach back to Baltal base camp by this route within three days. The first night on the Pahalgam route has to be spent at the Sheshnag base camp. Then one has to stay at Panjtarni for the second night. After this from Panjtarni one can reach the base camp on the same day via Baltal after visiting Baba Barfani in the holy cave.
