Terrorist Arrest In Jammu Kashmir, Perfume Bomb Seized

Jammu 2nd feb 2023: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh claimed that a major breakthrough has been achieved by arresting a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist involved in two IED blasts in Narwal on January 20. The terrorist is also a government employee, from whose possession a perfume IED has been recovered.

Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said that after 11 days of hard work by the Jammu Police, Arif Ahmed, a resident of Reasi district of Jammu division, has been arrested.

He told that Arif is a government employee and is an active terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba organization. He was acting at the behest of Reasi resident Qasim Deen and his maternal uncle Kamardin, both currently in Pakistan and part of LeT. Arif has confessed to blasting three IEDs so far. These included the February 2022 Shastri Nagar in Jammu city, besides the Katda bus blast and the January 20 incident in Narwal, Jammu.

Till now we had seen IEDs with explosive material, sticky bombs and IEDs with timer but a new type of IED was recovered from Arif which is Perfume IED. This IED is in the form of a bottle and looks like a perfume bottle, but contains explosive material.

He said that the main objective of these IEDs is to target innocent people and create communal hatred in the Jammu region. Arif will now not only lose his job but a stronger dossier will be prepared against him. To destroy the evidence, Arif had set his clothes, shoes and even his mobile phone on fire, he had burnt all the evidence. But the police worked hard on small information and clues, due to which Arif was arrested.

The DGP said that the IED found by Arif was air-dropped through a drone. Arif has accepted his crime. Responding to a question about the Dangri, Rajouri incident and the investigation, the DGP said the investigation is at an advanced stage and results will be shared soon.

When asked about Arif’s further links and possible Kashmir connection, the DGP said it has not been seen so far. Investigation is on in this regard.
