ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT STEP

ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT STEP

The incumbent governments at the centre and in J&K are persistently moving in the direction to make governance transparent, accountable and free from corruption. For ensuring these things, several steps have been taken by the people sitting at helm and what is more inspiring is that the work is still going on and every now and then the people running the government come up with new initiatives to make things more efficient and public friendly unlike the cases of the successive dispensations which used to remain dormant for years together to take a decision over a thing that actually was quite important for the welfare of people. The new work culture in the country and especially in J&K under the dynamic leadership of LG Manoj Sinha is highly praiseworthy and is providing the much needed succor to the common man, who earlier was subjected to unending harassment by the indifferent governments that ruled the erstwhile State in the past. In this context, the government has come up with yet another good step to make officers/officials accountable for delay in providing public services, both online as well as offline. Reportedly, the Government has recently introduced an Auto Push System for which the detailed guidelines are being finalized and are expected to be out in the next few days. Despite all the good work done by people sitting at helm, there were instances that in some cases, the public wasn’t getting the services within timelines and the existing guidelines in this regard were being ignored. The government has now come up with a strict set up whereby the officers will be held responsible for the inordinate delay in providing the government services. Surely this is a revolutionary step in making the governance more vibrant and people friendly as officials now would be held accountable in case of unreasonable delay in providing services to the people within the fixed time. It is likely to have a provision for punishment and fine if the things will not be accomplished in the fixed timeline. The step taken in this regard is indicative of the fact that the Government is determined to ensure that all services are provided to the people within the stipulated period if the formalities are complete and it is serious over the issue as already it has been made clear that there will be no compromise in this direction.
