In a major road accident on Monday morning in Doda district of Jammu division, three people including PWD’s XEN died on the spot. While the condition of an engineer is critical. He is being treated at Doda District Hospital. With great difficulty the people who had fallen in the Chenab were pulled out. The Lieutenant Governor has expressed deep condolences on the accident.
According to the information received so far, Mohammad Rafiq, AEE Kamal Kishore, SE Suresh Kumar and another Hafiz Butt, resident of XEN Poonch of the department were going towards Doda headquarter by riding in PWD’s Bolero car (JK02CC0701). During this, when the Bolero reached near the Trungal bridge in Assar, it suddenly lost control of the driver and fell into the Chenab.
As soon as the accident happened, there was hue and cry all around. The local people informed the police. Army personnel also reached the spot. Everyone immediately started relief and rescue operations. Four people were pulled out from the Bolero vehicle that fell in Chenab. Three of them had died and one was in critical condition. All were taken to Assar First Aid Center. Everyone was recognized there.
XEN Mohammad Rafiq, AEE, and driver Hafiz died on the spot while fourth Suresh Kumar is undergoing treatment. His condition also remains critical, but he is out of danger now. The police have registered a case in this matter. Some people believe that the accident may have occurred due to bad weather, but officially nothing has been said yet about the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed deep grief over this accident. He expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. He has directed the district administration to provide all possible help to the family of the deceased and injured person.
