COOPERATION MUST

COOPERATION MUST

It is for the first time in the history of independent India that so many changes have been made by the centre to streamline things and ensure good governance to precisely facilitate the people who remained deprived of things for over 70 years just because of indifference of the successive governments that ruled the country in the past. In this context, this time the Government has tweaked Aadhaar regulations, specifying that supporting documents may be updated at least once by the Aadhaar holders on completion of 10 years from enrolment date. As the Aadhaar number has become a vital entity for the citizens and basis for availing benefits of numerous schemes launched by the BJP Government led by PM Narendra Modi, it is necessary to ensure that information associated with this significant number should be authentic and updated. This being a vital exercise should be supported by one and all in the country especially in J&K where still there are certain areas of governance which require streamlining and the government led by PM Modi is moving fast on accomplishing this job as soon as possible. It is pertinent to mention that the aforesaid updation would ensure continued accuracy of Aadhaar-related information in the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR). The government wanted that Aadhaar number holders on completion of every 10 years from the date of enrolment for Aadhaar should update their supporting documents in Aadhaar, at least once, by submitting Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents to ensure continued accuracy of their information in the CIDR. This has been accomplished by changing the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Regulations. Already the government has appealed to people for updating identification and residence proof documents, if they were issued the unique ID more than 10 years back but had not updated their details since then. The need of the time is that people should cooperate in this endeavour of the government to streamline things. There is no reason to show lethargy in this matter as this is vital for the country because Aadhaar has lately become the most important entity in the country.
