RAKING UNNECESSARY CONTROVERSY
Lately, it has become a trend that every step which the government takes is being looked at with suspicion and unnecessary controversies were raked-up to hinder the functioning of the administration. In this context, the issue of shifting of prisoners from Jammu and Kashmir to outside the Union Territory has now been questioned as around 150 prisoners have been dislodged in different jails outside the UT of J&K. It has really become problematic for the helmsmen to answer each and every query of the people because with such a level of transparency the normal routine work gets affected badly. In the aforesaid case the DG Prisons had to clarify that shifting of prisoners was a purely administrative exercise undertaken due to overcrowding of jails. It becomes really irksome to give details of every step which the administration takes in the interest of the people. It is a bit unjustified that in the name of accountability and transparency, people start raising questions over the normal routine work of the government. In the case of prisoners, it has been clarified that it is an administrative matter because if the prisoners in a jail are more than its capacity then some of them have to be shifted outside. Linking the same with the issue of radicalization is not fair as the DG Prisons has made it clear that JKP can deal with that problem with great ease but the actual reason behind the shifting of prisoners is less capacity of Jails in the UT. The 150 prisoners including ultras have been shifted outside the UT and the reason which the people are alleging is that these detenues were indulging in radicalization of other prisoners. These days there is no difference in rules of the jails and therefore if a jail outside the J&K can counter radicalization effectively, the same can be done in jails located in the UT as well therefore the question raised has no logic. In a nutshell, the people should have faith in the working of government as under no circumstances those sitting at helm would take any step which is against the set rules of the government.
