LOGIC IMBECILE, IRRATIONAL

The collective approach of People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) seems to be imbecile and highly irrational because the stand taken by this amalgam of Kashmir based political leadership over the life term to Yasin Malik is brazenly berserk and shows that these so-called people’s representatives have turned ‘brainsick’. Terming the life imprisonment awarded to Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik by a Delhi court in a terror funding case, which has been proven beyond any doubt, as unfortunate shows the sick mentality of this pseudo political class existing in the Valley as the joint statement under the ambit of PAGD has averred that the conviction of Yasin Malik is a setback to the efforts of peace. It is ludicrous that the person who is facing serious charges regarding his involvement in terror cases holds the key to peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The compulsion of constituents of PAGD is comprehensible because their very existence in politics depends on their dubious stands like the one in discussion. This in fact is unfortunate for the country because political parties supporting those involved in heinous acts, which are proven beyond any doubt is a sad state of affairs and the matter should be taken as very seriously by those steering the country. As far as Yasin Malik is concerned, besides the life term, Special Judge Praveen Singh has also awarded varying jail terms for various offences under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Indian Penal Code to Yasin Malik, who is also the chief of the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). Apart from this, the court has also imposed a fine of over Rs 10 lakh on Malik.
The imaginary apprehension expressed by PAGD members that the aforementioned verdict will further compound the uncertainties in the region and will only fuel more alienation and separatist feelings is in no way justified because the court has followed rule book (Constitution), which is the right path and if something goes wrong there are law implementing agencies which will take care of everything. Demand for letting off a person who has been proven guilty beyond any doubt is nothing but a blackmailing tactic, which under no circumstances should be given any heed as law must take its own course. There are legal options available to every citizen of the country and if the PAGD members are really concerned they could help Yasin by providing assistance in legal terms but asking for political bail out is unfounded and uncalled for.
