In the General House meeting of Jammu Municipal Corporation, a resolution has been passed unanimously to remove illegal loudspeakers from the city and reduce their noise. Though the opposition opposed it, it was passed by voice vote.
Let it be mentioned here that on Saturday, the General House of Jammu Municipal Corporation was sitting. However, during that time, the proposal to remove the loudspeakers installed in all religious places, banquet halls and functions of the city without the permission of the district administration could not be discussed.
During the General House meeting of the Municipal Corporation held on Saturday, BJP corporator Narottam Sharma from ward number three had presented a proposal to curb the increasing pollution from the air, water and land of the city. In which he had demanded the removal of loudspeakers installed in various religious places, including illegally playing loudspeakers in the city to prevent noise pollution.
He had said in his proposal that many scientists have said that noise pollution has a bad effect on the health of the people. Apart from this, the Supreme Court has also directed the governments of all the states to remove illegal loudspeakers. Talking about Jammu, loudspeakers keep playing in thousands of religious places in the morning, afternoon and evening. Due to which the education of children is also affected.
In the resolution, he also said that the District Commissioner, Jammu should be asked to ensure that loudspeakers are not used illegally anywhere. There is also a need to make the Municipal Corporation Jammu aware for this. For this, people of newspapers, internet media should be made aware to stop noise pollution. Narottam had also said that all loudspeakers should not be removed in a hurry. Organizations and people should be given some time for this. Narottam in his proposal has also demanded from the traffic police to create nine horn zones. At the same time, Mayor of Municipal Corporation Chandra Mohan Gupta says that this proposal will be placed before the house. Based on the decision taken there, the corporation will take further action.
