RESOLVE AMICABLY

RESOLVE AMICABLY

The groups and associations of different fraternities are constituted to ease out the friction between that trade and the government authorities or to resolve burning issues of fraternity members. But what has been witnessed in J&K is that various associations and bodies prefer to go for confrontational path without following the routine and genuine methods to have liaison with helmsmen and sort out things amicably without putting into trouble any of the stakeholders. In this context, all the private transporters and transport operators have decided to observe complete strike on March 30 to lodge their protest against the attitude of neglect on the part of LG’s Administration. It would have been much better to initiate talks with the concerned government quarters to highlight the issues rather that planning to put the public in distress by remaining off on March 30, 2022 because this will create chaos and confusion for those who rely on public transport for commuting. The transporters must understand that they have responsibility to ensure that no commuter faces inconvenience due to their irresponsible behaviour or such kind of decisions taken arbitrarily without considering the fact that the same will affect the people badly. There is no doubt that the issues raised by transporters are also important and should be addressed by the government as soon as possible but calling for a Chakka Jam is no alternative rather talks should have been proposed to resolve the matter amicably. As the Association of transporters is ruing that despite their representations to the people sitting at helm of affairs nothing concrete has come to fore largely means that those steering the transporters’ body have failed to project demands in right prospective and that is the reason behind mounting pressure on government by causing inconvenience to the public and the small transporters whose livelihood depends on their regular income. On the other hand, the government should also take a sympathetic stand on the issue because pandemic corona has devastated poor people and their livelihood, therefore being a welfare state the government should come forward and announce sops for the transporters of the UT as they have faced lots of hardships in the last nearly three years due to various reasons known to everyone especially those running the government. The onus of satiating the aspirations of the transporters noe lies on the government and therefore it should call them before March 30 and resolve the issue before the proposed strike call given by them.
