The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a senior revenue officer while taking bribe on Thursday.
Habibullah Mir, Naib Tehsildar at Chuker in Baramulla district, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe to grant permission for cutting an old walnut tree.
The ACB said in a statement that a complaint was received that the officer sought Rs 30,000. The bribe money was settled at Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 was deposited into the bank account of the officer.
The officer was arrested while taking Rs 5,000 in cash from the complainant.
