Director SKIMS among frontline health care workers receives vaccine in Kashmir

Director S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Dr A G Ahangar was among frontline healthcare workers who received first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Kashmir valley, where dozens of centre have been set up to given vaccine to people.

On the occasion of e-launch of massive Covid-19 vaccination drive in the country by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, virtually on Saturday, the frontline healthcare workers at SKIMS received first shot of the vaccine.

Various Heads of the Departments (HoD) lead by Dr Ahangar, who received the first shot of the vaccine, emphasized the significance of this immunization Programme world over to comprehensively combat the corona Pandemic and it is a moment of pride that world has been waiting for.

 

 

 

One and all know that SKIMS played a vital role in managing the Covid-19 pandemic and it is gratifying to be part of this vaccination drive today in which the all frontline warriors shall be vaccinated in coming days and SKIMS has all arrangements in place to make this drive another success story, Assistant Director Public Relations (PR) SKIMS said that on the first day of the vaccination drive today the frontline workers received the first jab of the vaccine.

She said in coming weeks all the staff of the hospital will be vaccinated. All preparations have been done in this regard, the staff has been trained to carry out the exercise as per the laid down protocol and the guidelines.

SKIMS was one of the major vaccination sites identified in the Union Territory (UT) of J&K on the e-launch of the Nationwide Vaccination drive by PM who addressed the recipients across the country via video conferencing.

The historic occasion was conducted at SKIMS in its Auditorium where Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir presided over the function.

Speaking on the occasion he emphasized for following protocols such as wearing mask, hand , respiratory hygiene and social distancing as was reiterated by PM while launching the vaccination drive.

He also lauded Dr Ahangar and his team for leading from the front who received the first shot of the vaccine which he said will give confidence and boost to other beneficiaries.
