The change in working style of the government in J&K became visible soon after the abrogation of Article 370 last year with people’s aspirations getting priority and at times local administration changing strides on the public demand, something which the erstwhile State never saw in over 70 years of existence after attaining independence from the British Empire. What is more inspiring is the fact that central dispensation is taking decisions with lightning speed when the issue is of J&K as is the case of changing the heads of the UT after August 5, 2019. It is clear that government wants to win the trust of people by way of reaching out to them and standing with them shoulder to shoulder at the hour of need. In the same context, LG Manoj Sinha on Friday launched first-ever Integrated Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System (IGRMS) for the early and systematic redressal of people’s complaints, a step to bring transparency and accountability in the system which was never the case in the erstwhile State of J&K at any point of time in the past. This state of the art integrated system is going to connect all the departments of the government and will provide a timely redressal of all issues raised through dedicated call centres with added facility to monitor status online. The time limit for resolving issues is 15 days. The decision in this regard was taken last week during Administrative Council meeting. Again it is the proactive approach of the government that taking into account official apathy which was forcing common masses to suffer, such a centralized system has been designed to make things transparent and ensure speedy redressal of people’s grievances. This step to provide succor to people facing hardships on account of phlegmatic attitude of ‘Babus’ seems to be the start of a new era of good governance as there are many more people-centric initiatives in offing. This is the way the governments should work as they are meant for the people and their every step should ensure welfare of the populace which has brought them to power. The LG has assured that the new set up will be failsafe and any delay or lethargy will be dealt with strictness and those behind the delinquency shall not be spared. This is the way the work should be done at government level. It is just one year that new set up has been established in the newly carved out UT of J&K therefore people should give some time to the dispensation in place to open its wings fully and show the entire nation and for that matter the whole world that J&K has been transformed in a way that development in every sphere is a norm here and prosperity and peace the way of life.
