Militants attacked with automatic weapons security force personnel posted at the main gate of mini secretariat, Shopian, in south Kashmir Friday morning, official sources said.
Security personnel deployed in the secretariat also retaliated but the militants managed to escape
No one was injured in the attack, they said.
Army, CRPF and police personnel were immediately rushed to the area, they said adding a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) has been launched to nab the militants.
Sources said police and security forces have collected CCTV footage of the area.
