Awareness, Sports, Outreach Activities continue across Pulwama under NMBA

As part of the ongoing 100-day inyensive campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a series of awareness, outreach and sports activities were conducted today across district Pulwama to educate people about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to promote a healthy and drug-free society.

 

Awareness programmes were organised at Pinglish Tral, Noorpora Awantipora and Dangerpora Pulwama, where participants were sensitised regarding the ill effects of drug abuse and the importance of collective efforts in preventing substance abuse. Various activities including awareness sessions, pledge ceremonies, signature campaigns, plantation drives and padyatras were conducted to encourage community participation and strengthen the message of a drug-free society.

 

Meanwhile, Self Help Group (SHG) members organised awareness and counselling sessions along with a padyatra at Dadsara to educate the local population regarding the adverse consequences of drug abuse and to mobilise community support for the objectives of the campaign.

 

As part of the awareness initiatives being undertaken in educational institutions under the campaign, educational institutions across the district organised peer leader selection programmes aimed at promoting student leadership and encouraging a drug-free lifestyle. Students participated in group discussions on peer pressure, substance abuse and healthy decision-making. Selected peer leaders were encouraged to serve as role models and spread awareness among their peers regarding the importance of staying away from drugs and adopting positive life choices.

 

Furthermore, the Drug Control Department Pulwama conducted inspections across Pulwama to verify the operational status of Computerised Billing Systems and CCTV surveillance systems at medical establishments in order to strengthen regulatory oversight and ensure compliance with the prescribed norms.

 

Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Pulwama continued its activities under the campaign by organising a wide range of sports and fitness programmes across various educational institutions of the district.

 

The events commenced with pledge ceremonies wherein participants resolved to promote a physically fit, mentally sound and drug-free society. Speakers on the occasion highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse and its far-reaching impact on individuals, families and society.

 

Under the campaign, Zone Pulwama organised pledge ceremonies, running, jumping and physical fitness activities at HSS Karimabad and other institutions. Zone Tahab conducted running, jumping and exercise sessions at UPS Grawgund and UPS Ladermar. Zone Pampore organised sports workshops, essay competitions, yoga sessions, running, jumping and physical activities across several institutions.

 

Similarly, Zone Tral conducted awareness programmes along with running, jumping and exercise sessions at HS Mandoora and other institutions. Zone Shadimarg organised zonal-level competitions in Volleyball, Kabaddi and Badminton at Indoor Stadium Rajpora.

 

People from different sections of society participated in the activities with enthusiasm and appreciated the continued efforts being undertaken under the campaign to create a healthy, aware and prosperous society.
