Sinha says zero tolerance for corruption, big package on cards for J&K

Reiterating zero tolerance for corruption, Lt Governor of Union Territory (UT) Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha on Monday warned that officials found not implementing the policies and programmes of the government on the ground level will have to face action.

“ A big announcement is on cards for the rehabilitation of not only business but others ailing sectors also”, Mr Sinha told a news conference at Raj Bhavan here this afternoon.

He said before the start of 10-day-long Back to Village (B2V) phase three from October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, 20-day-long “Jan Abhiyan” has commenced from September 10 to sensitize field functionaries and ensure their full participation in various public outreach activities as envisaged under the three pillars of the Abhiyan.

He warned zero tolerance for corruption and said corrupt officials will not be tolerated.

When asked some bureaucrats are not implementing government policies on the ground, Mr Sinha said anybody found involved in indulging in such activities will have to face action.

In reply to a question about committee constituted to suggest measures for the revival of business and other ailing sector, LG Sinha said the committee has submitted its report which is under consideration.

“ A big announcement was on cards within a week”, he said.

However, he said it is not only the business but every sector in the J&K has suffered losses. They are suffering losses not only for the past one year, but since 15 or 20 years, he said.  

He said the package would not only cover the business but other sectors also.

About the frequent traffic jam on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, Lt Governor assured that he will look into the issue. Give me some time I will look into this issue of frequent traffic jam due to huge security force convoy.

When asked if Rs 10 lakh grant announced for every panchat was for entire year, Mr Sinha said it was for immediate utilization. The yearly funds will be much much more, he announced.

He said as announced earlier, the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners of all districts will meet public in their respective areas.

 Divisional Commissioners and DC’s will listen to the grievances of people and ensure timely redressal. “This will be on rotational basis like first week Divisional Commissioners will attend Darbars at divisional level and on the next Wednesday they will remain present at sub-divisional level.
