Srinagar, Sep 13 (UNI) After the elders were disallowed to meet on September 3, the youth leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has now sought permission from the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com), Kashmir, to hold a meeting on September 16 in Srinagar party headquarter.

In a joint letter to Div Com, president of the PDP youth wing Waheed Ur Rehman Parra and former MLA Aijaz Ahmad Mir said  that “We are writing to you on behalf of members of youth wing of PDP”.

As you are aware the prevalent political situation and lock down that has arisen on account of the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on everyone, especially the younger people whose schools and colleges have now been closed for a considerable period of time and even the social interaction is limited, the leaders said.

The letter further said “As the youth wing of PDP it is imperative upon us to step up and take the lead in strengthen involvement of young people at this time of crisis”.

Therefore, they said, we propose to have a meeting of youth , and needless to say, that we will be following the  COVID-19 protocol including use of masks, social distancing and use of sanitizer.

Parray ad Mir said “By allowing this meeting to take place, you will also be playing an effective role in helping the younger people who are coping with anxiety  due to lack of interaction amidst lock down and political uncertainty.

They said upon receipt of your permission for the meeting we will be able to plan the event which is scheduled on September 16 at PDP office at Srinagar.

We trust you will facilitate the meeting, they said and seeking direction to Police on the same as they ( Parr and Mir) claimed that they are still under house arrest.

“ We look forward to receive a positive response at the earliest”, the letter said.

The authorities disallowed PDP meeting of seniors called by General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjoora on September 3. Security forces closed all roads leading to PDP office at S K Park and also allegedly disallowed senior party leaders to leave their homes to attend the meeting.
